Hammond Street Yackandandah
The client came to us with plans to renovate part of their 1940’s cottage to bring it up to date and adapt the space to better suit the family’s growing needs. The kitchen and dining area of the original house was closed in, dark, dated, and lacking modern appliances.
To make their centrally-located home more liveable and modern, the homeowners wanted to open up the space to turn the kitchen and dining into one large area, allow more natural light in and give the kitchen space more room to improve the functionality for cooking and eating.
Where the old bathroom was, they wanted a full-sized laundry added, and in place of what was an old mud room, they wanted to add a bathroom overlooking the backyard. To make it more energy efficient, they wanted doubled-glazed sliding glass doors and windows in all areas of the new build.
To further give the renovated house a sense of space and light, they wanted the sliding glass doors in the kitchen to lead to a large deck, with a privacy screen and steps leading out to their recently landscaped backyard.
